Key Ingredients

Marine collagen Marine collagen

Collagen is the largest structural component of cartilage and connective tissue. Its role in the body is to hold tissues and cells together, maintaining proper structure, strength, and integrity. Our sports health specialists have chosen 10,000mg of marine collagen as the optimal dose for supplements intended for high-performance athletes. Fish collagen contains more Type 1 collagen than collagen from other sources. Type 1 collagen is the primary building block for human skin and cartilage. The process of hydrolysation breaks down the collagen into peptides, which are more easily absorbed by the body.

Glucosamine Glucosamine

Glucosamine is one of the building blocks for growth, repair and maintenance of cartilage. Glucosamine is an important part of the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway, which ultimately leads to the creation of glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans, and glycolipids. Glycosaminoglycans are used as a shock absorber and lubricant within the body. Together with collagen, proteoglycans and proteins help form cartilage.

Vitamin C Vitamin C

PRO Advanced Collagen contains 15% of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of bones and cartilage. Some nutrients work better when in combination, such as vitamin C and collagen. Vitamin C is a key ingredient in the process known as hydroxylation. This process helps stabilise your body's natural collagen and allows it to be used.

Copper Copper

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) stated in their scientific opinion in 2009 that “evidence provided by consensus opinions/reports from authoritative bodies and reviews shows that there is good consensus on the role of copper in the formation of elastin and collagen, which constitute the structure of connective tissues.” This is why they agreed that copper contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissue. Copper also helps protect cells from oxidative stress (which means that it is an antioxidant) and contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.

Turmeric Turmeric

Turmeric is the root of the Curcuma longa plant, which belongs to the ginger family and is a perennial. Turmeric has been used to flavour food and for its traditional health benefits for thousands of years,Its traditional uses include helping support healthy joints.

Hyaluronic acid Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is one of the key components in articular cartilage where it plays a role in resilience during intensive exercise. . Articular cartilage is the substance at the end of bones where they connect to one another forming joints. It allows bones to glide over one another smoothly.

Ginger Ginger

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale) has been used to flavour food and for its traditional health benefits for thousands of years. Its traditional uses include helping support the immune system.

FAQs

How much collagen does PRO Advanced Collagen contain?

Advanced Collagen contains 10,000mg of hydrolysed marine collagen. Studies have shown that the effects are dose dependent and for serious athletes. It has been suggested that 10,000mg is the optimum amount.

Why is it PRO “Advanced” Collagen?

It is called PRO Advanced Collagen because it doesn’t just contain collagen, it also contains turmeric, glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and copper.

Is it vegan/vegetarian?

No, collagen is not vegan or vegetarian. By its very nature, collagen cannot be vegetarian, as it is an animal product. There are vitamins which can aid with collagen production within the human body, such as vitamin C. This is sometimes why you see vegetarian or vegan “collagen”. However, these supplements do not contain any real collagen. Our VEGAN range is formulated especially for vegan and vegetarian elite athletes.

Where does the collagen in PRO Advanced Collagen come from?

The collagen in PRO Advanced Collagen is hydrolysed marine collagen. While there are many sources of collagen, marine collagen (especially in its hydrolysed state), is the highest quality collagen for supplementation.

Has TRR PRO Advanced Collagen been tested for banned substances?

Yes, our entire PRO product range has been tested for banned substances by Informed-Sport. Informed Sport is the global quality assurance program for sports nutrition products, and is designed to give athletes the confidence to take supplements without worrying about the presence of banned substances.
